Basics of Crime Scene Documentation

Summary:

Proper crime scene documentation is vital to solving crimes. This web conference will cover the importance of using the four methods of crime scene documentation; notes, video, still photo, and measure/sketch. In addition, the topics of proper collection and packaging methods as well as legal issues pertaining to these four methods will be addressed. This web conference is ideal for those new to the field or anyone looking to refresh their knowledge of the basics of crime scene documentation.

About the speaker:

Peter-MasseyPeter Massey has over 20 years of experience in the field of crime scene investigation. Until 2003, he was a Detective with the Hamden Police Department in Connecticut. In 2003, he became a faculty member/lecturer at the University of New Haven in the Forensic Science Department where he teaches the principles of criminal investigations and crime scene investigation to undergraduates. He concurrently acts as the Training Coordinator for the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science in West Haven, CT. His areas of expertise include crime scene investigation, criminal investigation, forensic science, constitutional law, police science, and internet safety.
