As Jurors Turn to Web, Mistrials Are Popping Up

Last week, a juror in a big federal drug trial in Florida admitted to the judge that he had been doing research on the case on the Internet, directly violating the judge’s instructions and centuries of legal rules. But when the judge questioned the rest of the jury, he got an even bigger shock.

Evidence in an Age of Self-Surveillance

Evidence derived from social networking comes into play in several ways. Law enforcement and prosecutors use it to identify suspects and build cases. Secure Delete Requires Only One Overwrite

For decades we’ve been told by security software vendors that to truly delete data from a hard drive, you have to overwrite the data multiple times with different patterns of 0s and 1s. But now we can file this away with other computer urban legends.

Computer Forensics and Multi Input

With multiple users on one computer the load on a system's ram will increase. The temporary memory for the guest component would be labeled for simple reference. In order to lower the strain on the cpu usage the user of the multiple input computer would not be able to write anything to the hard drive. This feature works as a protection block as well. In order to download a file to the computer the multi input component will send a link or request to the admin computer.

The Death of Computer Forensics (on Web2.0 Sites)

It is always about some geek wearing old style clothes, 3-days beard, glazing eyes, lots of half eaten pizza remains around, empty cans of beer scattered around and a refrigerator that looks likethe dump bucket.
