DoD Reports Chinese Cyberwarfare Against U.S.

In its annual report to congress on the military and security developments involving China, the DoD maintained that China was "focused on exfiltrating information, some of which could be of strategic or military utility.”

The report did not expressly implicate the People's Liberation Army in China in executing or endorsing the attacks, but noted that "developing capabilities for cyberwarfare is consistent with PLA military writings."

The report also claims that the PLA is employing civilian computer experts to create viruses that attack enemy computers and networks.

China's Internet Society president has refuted the report’s claims, saying that the U.S. is trying to tarnish China’s image.
