10th Annual CEIC Show Highlights Digital Investigations Best Practices
News Posted: May 12, 2010The 2010 Computer and Enterprise Investigations Conference (CEIC) kicks off on Monday, May 24, in Summerlin, Nevada, offering digital investigation professionals an opportunity to network with their peers, exchange best practices, and preview the latest technology and services from leading vendors. CEIC brings together more than a thousand professionals annually for a four-day trade event that includes a keynote address, learning sessions led by industry thought-leaders, and the latest offerings from industry-leading solution providers.
Director of Risk Management and Digital Forensics Expert Andy Spruill from Guidance Software, Inc. outlines what digital investigations professionals can expect at CEIC this year.
Why is it so important for a forensic expert to go to CEIC?
Our forensic discipline is based on a field of science that changes at an astonishing rate. Keeping up with these changes is absolutely mandatory. In today's world of limited resources and extremely tight budgets, choosing the right training venue is critical. CEIC brings together, in one place and time, a large number of fellow professionals, world leading experts, and industry vendors. Whether it’s listening to experts lecturing on the newest techniques, practicing newly learned skills in the numerous hands-on labs, or just interacting in informal chats between sessions, this is the venue to get yourself up to speed.
What’s new at CEIC?
As in previous years, CEIC 2010 will bring together thought leaders to speak in tracks for e-Discovery, computer forensics, policy compliance, internal investigations, and computer incident response, but this year’s show adds a track on cyber security. With the ever-changing nature of cyber threats, digital investigators need to be aware of the latest tools and best practices for protecting their data.
What are the educational opportunities?
CEIC also offers numerous educational and continuing professional development opportunities for digital investigations practitioners, including CPE, CLE, and EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE). The event also features courses for new professionals in the basics of conducting investigations using the EnCase family of products.
Who will be speaking at the show?
Melissa Hathaway, President of Hathaway Global Strategies, LLC and a Senior Advisor at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center, will discuss cyber security during her keynote address on Tuesday, May 25. She has served in two Presidential administrations and brings a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional perspective to strategic security consulting and strategy formulation for public and private sector clients.
In addition to the keynote, CEIC features learning sessions where corporations, law firms, law enforcement, and government agencies will discuss pertinent digital investigations, e-Discovery, and cyber security topics, detailing current industry best practices and demonstrating industry-leading technological solutions.
